Abstract

Contains a proclamation of Lieutenant Governor Alexander Spotswood that the Chief of the Sara or Cheraw Indians, the Enoes, & others be taken under the protection of the government and allowed to trade with Virginia. The proclamation also empowered them to solicit a peace & free trade with the Catawba Indians in exchange for the cessation of all hostilities against the people of South Carolina.
